Take the fjord road from Bergen to Balestrand
We have opened our doors for the season, and with Norled's summer route it is even easier to take the fjord road to Balestrand.
The boat trip from Strandkai Terminal in Bergen to Balestrand in Sogn takes just under four hours and offers a beautiful journey along our mighty fjord.
On board the boat, you can work, relax or enjoy good company.
Expanding the summer route Bergen - Sogn
From April 1, 2026 until October 31, 2026, Norled will be operating expanded summer routes by express boat from Bergen to Sogn. Make the journey along the Sognefjord part of the experience, and travel through mighty mountains and sheltered coves, all the way to Balestrand and the doorstep of Kviknes Hotel.
Company meeting or course? Experience a new way of traveling - and be there for lunch
If they leave Bergen on the morning boat at 8 am, they will arrive in time for lunch. Then they can have a good working session after lunch, before enjoying the possibilities here in the evening, with food, drink and stories. The next day, they can work until noon, before the boat leaves for Bergen.
We have meeting rooms and conference halls that can accommodate up to 450 people.

Statue of King Olav V
As you travel past Skjerjehamn at the mouth of the Sognefjord, you will catch sight of the well-known statue of King Olav V, unveiled in 2007. On the trip across the fjord, you have a view straight towards Lihesten, a striking and easily recognizable mountain. Further inland, you pass Brekke on the south side, a small town that is known for receiving more rainfall than Bergen itself!
As you get closer to Balestrand, your eyes will fall on Vindreken, the mountain that has inspired the most artists in this country. In the foreground, down by the fjord, you will finally find the historic Kviknes Hotel.
