Kviknes Hotel - Hospitality for four generations

At Kviknes Hotel, the tradition of hospitality dates back to 1752. The Kvikne family, who now own the hotel, took over in 1877. The hotel was built in the Swiss style, and has retained its distinctive character even after several renovations and expansions. Kviknes is a modern hotel with soul and atmosphere, and with its 190 rooms it is one of the most traditional hotels in Norway. The hotel has collected a number of works of art and treasures that characterize the hotel and give it its special style.

About Kviknes Hotel

The hotel is idyllically located by the Sognefjord in a romantic national setting. The list of prominent guests at Kviknes Hotel is very long. Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany was a frequent guest in Balestrand. In addition, royalty, emperors, presidents, prime ministers, movie stars and artists from many countries can be found on the guest list.

History

At Kviknes Hotel, the tradition of hospitality dates back to 1752. Ole Kvigne took over the hotel in 1877 together with his wife Kari and brother Knut. From then on, a radical development began that has continued right up to the present day. The Kvikne family have always been hosts at the hotel by the Sognefjord.

Balestrand

Kviknes Hotel is located in the center of Balestrand, a beautiful and lush western village in the middle of the world's most beautiful adventure! Here, three fjord arms stretch further inland, with small hamlets like pearls between fjord and mountain. With its central location on the Sognefjord, Balestrand has welcomed guests from home and abroad since the end of the 19th century.
