Travel by car
Bergen - Balestrand: 200 km - approx. 4 hours.
In summer, the route via Voss and Vikafjellet is at its most beautiful. If Vikafjellet is closed, the easiest way to Balestrand is via Knarvik and the Lavik-Oppedal ferry connection.
Førde - Balestrand: 100 km - approx. 1 h. 40 min.
In the summer you can drive via Gaularfjellet and experience one of the country's finest mountain passes. In winter, drive via Høyanger.
Ålesund - Balestrand: 320 km - approx. 5 h. 30 min.
Oslo - Balestrand: 380 km - 6 h. 30 min.
Over Hemsedalsfjellet. Via the ferry Fodnes-Mannheller and through Sogndal, then take the ferry Hella-Dragsvik.
Sogndal - Balestrand: 50 km - approx. 1 h
Incl. ferry Hella-Dragsvik
Travel by air
Widerøe has several daily departures from Førde airport. From Førde Airport Bringeland it is 96 km to Balestrand. Alternatively, you can land at Sogndal airport, but then you are dependent on the ferry Hella-Dragsvik.
