National Romanticism is blooming! Historic festive dinner on Whitsun weekend

On Saturday, May 23, you can experience a historic gala dinner at Kviknes Hotel, dedicated to Hans Dahl and the rich art and cultural history of Balestrand.

During the Whitsun weekend of 2026, the Norwegian Tourism Museum invites you to an event they call “Winter Weekend in Balestrand: National Romanticism Blooms.” There will be a program throughout Whitsun, with guided tours, panel discussions, lectures, concerts and historical experiences.

As part of the program, Kviknes Hotel is organizing a historic gala dinner on Saturday evening, on Whitsun Eve itself, May 23rd at 7:00 PM.

This evening you will have the opportunity to delve into the life and art of one of the most iconic painters from Balestrand, Hans Dahl, with storytelling and musical contributions in addition to a delicious meal.

The menu draws inspiration from Hans Dahl's 70th birthday party. Of course, accompanied by something good by the glass from our wine cellar , which is the largest and most extensive in the Sognefjord.

The art music hosts are pianist Frode Skag Storheim and flutist Berit Hella Lindberg.
